Laura Grier is a Deline First Nations Printmaker, born in Yellowknife, and raised in Alberta. In 2015, Grier graduated with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Fine Arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in Halifax. Laura is interested in investigating Indigenous culture through activism and printmaking, and portraying Indigenous sovereignty through film photography
Having grown up away from their traditional lands, Laura tries to find ways to revitalize Deline culture and knowledge by using traditional print mediums. Laura’s art is inspired by the spirit of Indigenous art practices, and is grounded in Indigenous world views and lived experiences. We, as artists, have the responsibility to critique and explore current events and issues within society so that we may learn from them.
